About Fundamentals of Finance

A fundamental understanding of finances by leaders insures that all areas of the business are thoughtfully considered when evaluating and implementing strategic changes. In UGA’s online Fundamentals of Finance program, you’ll learn the basic concepts and analytical tools of finance in both corporate finance and investment. 

Online Formatting 

Once registered for Fundamentals of Finance, participants will have access to the class beginning from the next scheduled start date for three months. Participants work at their own pace, and thus can complete the class well before the three months expires but have the flexibility to work through the class and return to any module at their own pace throughout three months. Upon completion of the class, participants will receive a Fundamentals of Finance Certificate from Terry College of Business, University of Georgia.

Chris Pope

Chris Pope, PhD, works with participants to develop an understanding of finance and how it impacts decisions they face daily in the workplace. Dr. Pope holds a PhD in Business Economics from Indiana University and has been on faculty at the University of Georgia, Terry College of Business for the last twelve years teaching undergraduates and executives. He also owns an economic consulting firm that has done work in online education as well as economic analysis for multiple firms in the Southeastern United States.

 I made it through 22+ years
as an Accountant and Corporate Controller without needing to use very many finance principles.  As a new CFO, I am finding out how valuable those concepts can be.
